NEWTOWN & Chilwell pulled off a stunning upset over Geelong West-St Peter's in GFL A grade action on Saturday.
The Eagles finished all over the complacent Roosters at West Oval to break through for their first win of the season.
West surrendered an eight-goal lead as the Roosters' intensity and strength at the ball went missing, according to coach Jill Leader.
"We just stopped playing and we stopped driving," she said.
Newtown & Chilwell shooter Bridget O'Dwyer and midcourter Jess Kelly inspired the Eagle fightback.
Leader said inconsistency in her line-up contributed to her team being unable to claim a win.
"We didn't have Lisa Dyer and Tania du Plessi (on Saturday) and last week didn't have Georgia (Berry) or Rachael (Leader)," she said. "I think we're having to work different combinations too much and need to get some consistency with our players."
But Leader noted that the players on court in the last quarter on Saturday were the same who opened strongly in the first half, leaving no excuse for the second-half slump.
Maintaining the same line-up as well as producing a consistent four-quarter performance will be the Roosters' aims in the coming weeks.
"We just need to put some quarters together," Leader said.
"We have enough talent so we should be able to come up with these wins."
