Seniors
A big test on a big ground in perfect football conditions yesterday and the Hills started the slower with Reservoir getting the first two goals. But the Hills were equal measure and hit back with three goals to head into the first break with the lead. The second quarter was an even contest as the ball flew from end to end in a high standard game of football. The Hills held a half time lead but were not having it all their way. Throughout the third term the Redback forwards worked their way on top as Brendan O’Connor started tacking his marks and Joffa Byron got a couple of goals, but unfortunately Will Box went off with a foot injury, Zac Williams sustained a hamstring strain and Daniel Keen injured his knee leaving only one player on the bench for most of second half. However, the Hills had the upper hand on their opponent in the third term and extended their lead out to five goals at one stage but were cut back to 3 goals at the last break. Panton Hill broke the Mustangs spirit early with the first goal of the last quarter although goals went both ways the final margin of 25 points was assured. On the big Reservoir ground the day belonged to the Panton Hill midfield with Brett Thorn continuing his good form in a best on ground performance, Benn Parker picking up plenty of the ball in the open spaces and youngster Josh Chapman being very strong in the clinches. Jayson Darcey-Molloy and Nathan Brundell did their jobs down back and Joffa Byron picked up another 5 goals. A terrific win to put the Hills a game clear on top of the ladder ahead of next weeks important clash against rivals Parkside to finish the start of the season against all comers with wins.
Reserves
Best win of the season by the Reserves against a very formidable opposition in last years grand final opponent. Dylan Collins maintained his good form with 6 goals. Andrew Schadendorff was best on ground for The Hills with a strong performance down back.
