Round 5 seen the Uni Hawks come up against the Thuringowa Bulldogs at TIS.
Reserves.
The hawks reserves went into the game confident of putting up a good contest against the underfeated bulldogs. With the Bulldogs dominating early the Hawks backline was doing a mountain of work, with Steve Summer getting his hands on plenty of the footy and stopping numeras attacks from the dogs. At the long break the bulldogs held a 29 point lead.
With a spirit of to never give in the Hawks continued to work with Curtis "Coxy" Cox running hard through the midfield and Max Walton working hard up forward on his way to a best on ground performance. But in the end a very good Bulldogs side was to strong for Uni Hawks running out 48 points winners.
Many positves for the Hawks reserves with so many of the first year players improving each week.

Seniors.
The Hawks seniors started to game with a high level of intesity giving the bulldogs no room to play there open running game. With Connor " Crumbs" Arnott presenting well at centre half forward if he wasnt taking marks he was feeding quick handballs to the Hawks midfielders running through. Again Josh Sutton and Liam Arnott were holding strong in defence giving the Bulldogs forward nothing.
With a hard fought first half played at frenetic pace the Uni Hawks took a small 11 point lead into the long break.
Knowing that they would have to lift the intensity again in the second half the Hawks were confident they could out run and out last the bulldogs in the second half. With there small running midfielders in Ben " Langers " Langley and James "Wrighty" Wright fighting hard in the centre to get the ball moving the hawks way the Hawks improved on there 11 points half time lead to take a 15 point lead into the last quarter.
The last quarter seen the bulldogs fight back and with the Hawks dropping away from there game plan and into the hands of the dogs giving there midfield clear run through the middle of the ground the bulldogs edge there way in front. With a goal late in the quarter the game was gone bulldogs running out 18 point winners.
Many positve signs for the Uni Hawks being one quarter away form beating last years premiers and each week lots of improvement in game play.
