SENIORS
In cool but dry conditions at Cracknell Reserve the Hills got out to an early lead against Heidelberg West kicking 11 goals to none in the first quarter yesterday. The second quarter evened up a little as the Hawks got a couple on the board but the Panton Hill side continued to find plenty of avenues to goal. At three quarter time senior coach Dean Haydock asked for more from his players and they responded, at one stage kicking four goals in 4 minutes. It was a day for forwards as Joffa Byron continued to enjoy his football and kicked another lazy 10 goals, but he was well supported by his colleagues with Brendan O'Connor kicking 7 goals and Zak Williams finishing with his biggest haul yet of 6 goals. The backline and midfiled did what they needed to with Daniel Pratt playing the lead rucking role in his 100th senior game and feeding plenty of ball to Dean Haydock and Ben Strongman. And there was also the newcomer Abe Williams who slotted into his new club supurbly and provided plenty of drive through the midfield. With some important percentage in the bank the Redbacks will now focus on the much more challenging task of beating the undefeated Reservoir next week to put themselves a game clear on top of the ladder.
RESERVES
Dylan Collins is one of the few players in the reserves line-up playing anywhere near the standards of last season with the reserves grinding to a draw in yet another game where they faded.
