Coach’s Comment:
Summary: Once again this was a result that we did not want or expect. After a promising start in the 1st quarter, East Burwood upped the ante in the 2nd quarter and started to run and spread as they adapted to the playing conditions better than we did and our work rate dropped off. Whilst the game never reached any great heights as a spectacle East Burwood clearly controlled the clearances and stoppages and we were unable to make any impact on the game especially in the last half. For us to win games of football we need to be more consistent and far more committed for four quarters. With some quality players to come back into the line-up over the next week or so expect big improvement which I believe will happen.

Coach’s Comment: Well done in real hard conditions. The U19 boys were fantastic and our on-ballers and run was terrific.
Summary: In the worst conditions of the day the Reserves had a great win against stoic opposition who kept plugging away all day.The coach was extremely happy with the performance with special mention to the U19 boys for their contribution and the terrific run and work ethic from the onball brigade. A great start to the year to go 3-0 with some players now pressing hard for promotion to the seniors in the forthcoming weeks ahead.

Best Players: Smith, Strachan, White, McCafferty, Lindon, Langmaid.
Coach’s Comment: We played really well and our set ups were good. The 4 players from the U17’s made a huge difference to our rotations. Overall a good team effort.
Summary: From the first bounce today our boys came to play and combined well right throughout the game. Their setups were very good and I was very impressed with their commitment. In fairness to East Burwood they tried hard all day but were undermanned and we had to many winners on the ground. The injection of some U17 players helped the coaches with the flexibility they needed on the bench and their contribution to the win should not be underestimated.
In closing at face value whilst the Seniors have had a disappointing start to the season our Reserves and U19's have started well. In my eyes the future of our club was on show today. The performance of our U19 and U17 players that helped our Reserves and U19 sides contribute to these wins cannot be denied. To all of you I as well as many of our supporters were extremely proud of your performance. We have so much talent coming through I'm sure that these players will make their contribution to our club in the not too distant future.
