Mulwala Netball Results
The Mulwala Lions girls showed excellent teamwork in all grades against Tocumwal on Saturday resulting in a successful day.
A Grade
Mulwala dominated the first quarter with a 15-3 lead. The defenders both rebounded well and the goalers finished off their good work. Welcome back Kim Thomson to the A Grade line up, who fitted back into WA nicely. The second quarter again was dominated by Mulwala with Cara, Kate and Erin again dominating, finishing with a 29-10 lead at half time. Mulwala in the next half seemed to take the pedal off the metal and let Tocumwal back into the match. 39-17 at three quarter time. The girls will be disappointed with the finish but have learnt a lot from this second half performance. Final score 48-24. Erin Crowhen was consistent in GK, and Kate Lynch and Cara Wood again created numerous turnovers in defence. $50 cash award to Erin Crowhen, Wingates Award to Kate Lynch and Lake Deck Cafe Award to Cara Wood.

The first quarter saw strong defence from Morgan, Tori and Nat who limited Tocumwals goals to two! The attackers ran hard with Courtney and Mia feeding quickly into the ring, and Jess and Clare trialling some new moves in the ring. Morgan played well with a switch to WA in the third quarter and with Mikayla running hard in the mid court, the girls achieved goaling of 22 in the second and third quarters and held a firm lead. Mia did well as shooter in the final term with Jess to finish with a 31 goal win, 36-5. Team Manager Vanessa is awesome!! A fantastic team effort from our Under 12’s. It was great to see what we learnt at training being incorporated into the game. Defensive throw-ins were a pleasure to watch with Maddy, Hayli, Alaina and Jordy running the set play to precision. Chloe added another dimension to her game, learning to hold in the ring, and Jordy performed exceptionally well for her debut in goals. Alaina’s move to defence was awesome, as she affected a huge number of turnovers, combining well with both Jordy and Hayli. Ash, Abbey and Maddy ran the centre court with excellent defensive pressure and strong clear leads. Great game girls- a pleasure to watch! Thanks to Kelz Kandy for the team award. Final score was 31-2. Mulwala Pharmacy Award to Jordy McCarthy, Lake
Mulwala Sports Club Award to Alaina Bruce, McDonalds Yarrawonga Award to Abbey Hicks, and Kelz Kandy Koaches Award to the whole team!
