Co-Captains Phillip "Philly" Burger, Joel "Flemo" Fleming along with Stuart "Stu" McKenzie and Josh "Sutto" Sutton were selected in the Townsville Eagles Rep side to play against Mackay Crows Rep side at Tony island stadium on saturday night 05 May. Philly was also named Deputy Vic Captain of the Townsville side.
Due to a work commitments to good to refuse Joel "Flemo" had to pull out of saturdays game, Flemo will also miss two week of footy for the Hawks with these work commitments, Which will be a huge loose as he has been in outstanding form in the first three games of the year.
Townsville took the honours in the first half holding a five goal lead into the long change, but a fired up Mackay came out strong in the secound half making for an exciting contest to watch from the stands. Townsville eventually ran out winners 83-70.
An outstanding game from Philly who provided run through the midfield and also up forward also booting three goals for the game and winning the Nicoll Rogers medal for Townsvilles best on ground. Stu and Sutto also contributed strongly in the Townsvilles victory with Stu provinding run through half forward and also managaing to kick a goal in the last quarter. Sutto produced another solid effort in defence combining with the other Townsville defenders to contain what looked to be a very talented Mackay forward line.
