WHEN Bonnie Doon seniors came up against old rivals Tatong at home on Saturday neither side gave much ground in the opening minutes until finally Jarrod Demarco goaled off a free for the Dogs.
Ben Trenfield and Rick Milligan were prominent early and Stephen Steiner and Todd Heaysman combined well to give Eddie Poole the opportunity to kick Doon's second.
When Tom Webster kicked the Dogs' third goal the signs for Tatong were ominous.
Webster, Judd Darby and Darren Wheeler combined for another goal.
Tatong briefly stopped the onslaught with a goal but Bonnie Doon was full of run and dominated the quarter.
Wayne Lockhart, late in the quarter cleverly kicked Doon's seventh.
Tatong kicked the first goal in the second quarter but Wheeler quickly replied and Webster repeated the call.
Tatong was more competitive now but took a long time to goal.
Always cool in a crisis Simon Powell defended well while Milligan, Alex Kellalea and Lockhart were ruthless in the pack.
Hayden Floate had also worked into the game.
Tatong was now exerting its own pressure, kicking a goal and holding the Dogs to three behinds.
When Wheeler kicked another major for the Dogs, Tatong refused to go away and replied.
Steiner goaled and when Floate kicked his goal Bonnie Doon again extended its leading margin.
The third quarter was a stalemate until Webster goaled.
The scoreboard was not an indication of Tatong's efforts.
Perhaps Doon was cleaner in their disposals.
Judd Darby chimed in with a few goals ably assisted by Chris Anderson.
Demarco continued to show his presence around the ground but as the quarter came to a close Doon's urgency had diminished.
Coming into the last term Doon continued along its path.
Anderson goaled and Floate did the same.
In the centre Steiner, Lockhart and Judd Darby were continually fed by Demarco.
Across the half back Trenfield, Powell and Jacob Howes continually forced the ball forward and in the forward line Webster continually presented and converted.
The game was played on the Dogs' terms and the result was very satisfying for the home team.
