Former Nor-West Jets young gun and reigning Shipley Medallist Josh Cass has continued his impressive start to the season at his new club, winning the NAB Rising Star nomination on his Premier League debut for Balmain against Campbelltown on Sunday.
Cass has already made one appearance for the Sydney Swans reserves in the NEAFL, kicking two goals against the UWS Giants, and also lined up for the Swans in a practice match against the Giants.
Bondi's nomination details from the Sydney AFL website....
Josh joined the purple and white’s this year from the highly successful Nor-West Jets Junior program which included Senior experience in the Jets Division 2 side.
Joshua had 26 possessions against Campbelltown off the half back flank. He is a hard tackling, hard running player in the Tendai Mzungu mould. He was a constant thorn in the side of the Campbelltown forwards last weekend.
His Coach Garry Bull commented that “Joshua is a great kid to coach. He is dedicated and committed to his footy. He has a big engine and can run all day. He has made a smooth transition to the Premier League.”
The Dockers are delighted that Joshua has joined them in Season 2012. We look forward to many more big games from him during the season. With his continued quality responses to challenges higher honours possibly await.
