Mulwala Netball Results Saturday 14/4/12
Another successful day for the Mulwala girls with all teams performing extremely well against Deniliquin.
A Grade
A scrappy start by both teams put each other under pressure with both teams making errors. But some great defensive turnovers by Kate Lynch and Cara Wood enabled EJ in her first match to put the Lions in front 10-7 at quarter time. The Lions second quarter was dominating. Steph Beams and Emma Jane Shieffelre moved and shot brilliantly putting the Lions in front by 9 at half time 27-18. Numerous changes to the team seemed to unsettle the side causing numerous errors and the Deni girls made the Lions pay cutting the lead to only 3 at three quarter time, 36-33. The girls were asked to step up if they wanted the win and they didn’t disappoint. Erin Crowhen and Kate Lynch again stood tall in defence and accurate shooting by Marissa Thomas and Steph Beams gave the Lions a well earned victory, 51-40. $50 cash award to Steph Beams, Renature voucher award to Kate Lynch and Nosh voucher award to E J Shieffelre.
B Grade
Mulwala started off slowly with Deni scoring the first 5 goals. Molly and the mid courters moved the ball down and worked very hard around the ring, with Tayla moving nicely and Dani shooting from everywhere!! Kim made a coaches decision keeping herself off and being a voice from the side line, with Em and Bree taking fantastic intercepts all over the court. Sophie did a great job in defence also, pulling in some rebounds against taller opposition. B Lions girls, although having a great win, must start the game harder. Final score 51-46. $30 Award went to Bre Flanagan, Brett James Coaches award to Emily Smith, and Mulwala Pharmacy Award to Danielle Walker.
C Grade
An excellent four quarters by all the girls. Strong passing down the court along with consistent shooting by Jess and Laura made for a convincing win. Great game by all- well done girls. Final score 40-20. Ash Blake Beauty Therapy

Under 17
The girls made a strong start with accurate shooting, smooth mid court feeding into the ring and excellent defence. The third quarter saw Deni catch up with Mulwala only 4 goals in front at three quarter time. Fresh legs in the final quarter and mustering of the teams energy saw the girls bring home a convincing lead by the end of the game. Well done girls with the final score 35-23. Wingates Sports Award to Tori Bennett, Lakeside Kebabs Award to Hannah Clarke, Lake Mulwala Sports Club Award to Clare O’Sullivan.
Under 15
Despite a nervous start the Under 15 Lions girls kept the score tight in the first term. Tegan was strong and sure in goals with excellent support from the attackers. The girls lost concentration in the second term and the game slipped away as the Deni defence tightened. The Deni attack ramped up and unfortunately proved too strong on the day. Final score was 19-38. Judds Mensland Award to Tegan Morton, Lake Mulwala Sports Club Award to Tayla McNamara, McDonalds Award to Tea Glass, Kelz Kandy Koaches Award to Lauren Pitches.
Under 13
A great game played by all the players. It was a tight game right to the end. The girls held strong in the final quarter to come away with a great win 25-19. Awards went to Maddi G, Grace, Maddi K, and Brodie.
Under 12
A great game this week and an extremely tight first half, with the scores 4-3 at half time. The third quarter saw a more free-flowing game, with stronger and more direct leads. Chloe and Lauren combined beautifully in goals to pile on 13 goals to 2 in the third quarter. Ash, Abbey, Maddy and Alaina dominated the centre court with all players effecting a number of turnovers, and feeding the goalers particularly well. Hayli, Jordy and Alaina were strong in defence, creating plenty of opportunities for Mulwala to capitalise on. Another great team effort, with plenty to work on again for next week. Final score was 21-8. Lake Mulwala Sports Club Award to Hayli Garner, McDonalds Award to Lauren Browning, Kelz Kandy Koaches Award to Jordy McCarthy, Central Café Award to Alaina Bruce.
