Pioneers Beaten in Season Opener

THE Bendigo Pioneers have been beaten in their opening match of the TAC Cup season today. The Pioneers suffered a 58-point loss to the Geelong Falcons at Ballarat's Eureka Stadium, going down 14.7 (91) to 5.3 (33). The Pioneers had trailed by 22 points at half-time, before the Falcons slammed on 8.3 to 2.3 after the break to record a comprehensive win. Sam Heavyside, Liam Byrne, Ben Lester, Joel Swatton, and Vin Flood were the Pioneers' best.
