The under 18s where both hampered by season ending cricket games and missed some personal, despite that both teams played a great game with a number of players representing there clubs for the first time. The game was played at a high intensity and the skills where better than expected for the first real hit for the season.
On this occasion the home team proved too strong on the day and the Western Magpies ran out comfortable winners, making under 18 coach Craig Allen very happy with the solid team performance.
The reserves started the day in great weather and finished the game in the wet slippery conditions that continued for the rest of the day.
The game despite the conditions was a hard, intense with a high skill level and all players contributed to a great game of football.
The home side was the victor on the day and certainly gave new club coach Craig St John reason to set some high expectations for the season ahead.
With the rain refusing to let up the seniors set about playing their first game in wet slippery conditions. Both teams certainly put on a fine display despsite the conditions and this being the first real hit out for the year.
Both teams attacked the ball and the skill level did not reflect the slippery conditions with strong quality game produced.
Again the home team prevailed and Senior Coach Peter McClennan was very pleased with the team effort on the day.
Many thanks to Palm Beach for their support and assistance on the day and the Western Magpies look forward to returning the favour when we journey down to the Lion's den during the season. Hopefully we will not bring the rain.
