Panton Hill had it's first practice hitout against Violet Town at Panton Hill on Saturday. With the ground in very good condition and the sun shining the ball was moved well by both teams. The Hills played mostly reserves players in the first half and fell behind by nearly eight goals but hit back in the second half with many more senior players despite a number of key stars missing including Tristan Kreymborg, Benn Parker, Ryan Byrnes and Brett Thorn.
Youngster Lauchy Pearson in his first ever senior game after playing under 19s at Eltham last year took plenty of grbs early across half forward with some hard leading up the centre of the ground. On baller Simon Amore moved the ball well in the second half and linked up with senior coach Dean Haydock who took control of the backline and gradually made space for himself on the small Panton Hill ground. Rob Guest, Dave Varano and Luke Moloney all enjoyed their return to football after absences in recent seasons and all showed that they will feature prominantly in the side throughout the year.
All up, a good first up hitout with two full games now scheduled for next Saturday at Eltham College from 12 noon.
