The Maroochy Roos have complemented their off season recruiting by resigning key players for the upcoming season. Pineapple Hotel Cup 'Team of the Year' Representatives Kane Tyson and Jarrod Gale (pictured) committed to the Roos for the 2012 season after outstanding seasons for the club in 2011.
Tyson, who claimed the clubs Best and Fairest award, was named in the forward pocket in the team of the year and relished the opportunity to carry more responsibility within the young side. With a solid off season in the gym and adding several kilos to his frame, Tyson is confident he can improve on his impressive 2011 season.
Gale, who came to the club last season from Tasmania with a big reputation, had a stellar season finishing second in the clubs best and fairest and being named as the ruck-rover in the leagues team of the year. What made Gale's season even more impressive was the fact that he carried groin problems into and throughout the season. As a result, Gale was unable to participate in any pre season sessions and missed the first two matches before being eased into games.
It wasn't until round 6 that Gale completed his first full game and he was unable to train for the majority of the year. With a boxing match scheduled in his town of Ulverstone in March, Gale is now in full training and expects to be at peak fitness when the Roos kick off their campaign at home against Noosa in round 2.
Other key players at the Roos have also recommitted to the club for the 2012 season with co-captains James Page and Dave Hulsman, vice captains Jarryd Raun and Greg Stirton, , the clubs leading goal kicker Jarrod Clarke, ruckman Tyson Williams and the super competitive Declan Magill all committing to the club for the 2012 season.
The club is delighted to have only two losses from the entire playing group to this point in time, with very strong pre-season training numbers and a number of new faces, the club is set to climb the ladder in 2012.
