The NFL has released a revised version of the 2012 Division 3 fixture.
The fixture explained
The 2012 Division 3 season will be played over 19 rounds, with all seven sides to play 16 games each during the home and away season.
Each team will play four opponents on three occasions, and two opponents on two occasions, with all Division 3 teams to also receive three byes throughout the course of the season.
Round 1
Grand finalist Parkside hosts new Division 3 club, Mernda, in the opening game of the season, while St Mary’s travels to Reservoir.
After both experiencing difficult seasons in 2011, Heidelberg West and Watsonia clash in the opening round and both sides will be desperate to begin 2012 on a positive note.
Panton Hill, a preliminary finalist last season, has a bye to start the year.
Highlights
- Dean Haydock begins his career as a senior coach in Round 2 when Panton Hill travels to Mernda.
- Reservoir meets Heidelberg West, and Panton Hill plays St Mary’s over the Queen’s birthday weekend. They will be the only two matches to be played across the NFL that weekend, with Division 1 and Division 2 clubs having the weekend off.
- After playing out a dramatic two-point thriller in the 2011 preliminary final, Parkside and Panton Hill meet again in Round 7, ahead of a return fixture in Round 14.
- As was the case in 2011, both semi finals will be played on the last Saturday of August, with the Grand Final scheduled for Saturday, September 8.
