The Greta Football & Netball Club would like to announce that David Newth has been elected Club President for the 2011-2012 year.
The son of club and recently voted Ovens & King legend Max Newth, David is a Greta premiership player and brings a wealth of experience to the role after serving his “apprenticeship” last year as Senior Vice-President of the club.
We’re also pleased to announce that current players -
Dan McCarthy & Andrew Pritchard have been elected Senior & Junior Vice Presidents respectively.
Kristen Stebnyckyj was re-elected Club Secretary and Darren Ross re-elected Club Treasurer.
Off the ground, the clubs focus this year was financial stability which in the 2010-2011 season saw us record one of the largest profits in club history.
On the back of this result, the club has expanded our committee to 11. We’re pleased to announce that Greta local Jamie Ramage and current players Lindsay Tanner, Mathew Saunders, Sean Ginnivan, Paul Hoysted & Jason Humphries have joined the expanded committee.
So there is good reason to be genuinely excited about the 2012 season. The first task of the new committee in the off-season is to clearly define roles and responsibilities using the strengths and skill-sets the new committee members bring to our club.
Best and Fairest award winners for the 2011 season as presented in the Oaks Room, Wangaratta Racecourse on Saturday September 23rd were as follows:
Football Netball
(Seniors) Jason Humphries (A Grade) Rebecca Duryea
(Reserves) Paul Hoysted (B Grade) Allyson Naish
(Thirds) Stephen Turnbull (B Reserves) Hayley Wallace
(C Grade) Jade Hargreaves
Peter & Jenny Larkin were given Life Membership, as was “Greta’s very own” Rob Northey. Rob has been involved in our club for well over 20 years and during that time played in the 1999 premiership side and still helps out wherever & whenever possible. So congratulations to Peter, Jenny & Rob.
