Just wanted to confirm with you all that we have secured the services of Troy and Claude at Fighting Fit Boxing Studio for our pre-xmas training. Troy confirmed during the week that West Preston will have the facilities of the Boxing Gym to ourselves on both Monday and Wednesday nights from 6pm till 7:30pm, starting November 7 and continuing for the 7 weeks up to Xmas. Indoor facility is Sullivan Stadium - Cnr Blake & Davis Street Reservoir 3073 next to C H Sullivan Memorial Park. The arrangement is for each player to pay $10 per session with a minimum of thirty players required each night.
Troy will be conducting the intensive boxing sessions and Claude will be taking the strength and conditioning training. For those of you that aren’t familiar with the Fighting Fit team Troy Gillard is the Director, he is a qualified personal trainer and Boxing Australia registered coach. Claude Castro is a Level 2 ASCA Strength & Conditioning Coach and Certified Kettlebell Instructor.
There is also a vacant football oval that can be used for any skills, tackling training or testing we wish to do beyond the regime set down by the guys at Fighting Fit.

As an addition we have access to Fighting Fit’s Nutritionist Amar. At this stage I have asked Troy to look into having the Amar hold 2 workshops during the training period to give the players information regarding a couple of topics chosen by us. First thoughts were maybe a workshop on reading food labelling for healthier eating or training/game nutrition. Please feel free to throw up any ideas you think may be suitable.
Amar also has the equipment to perform detailed testing on player’s body compositions, weight, skinfolds etc. This may be useful for a number of selected players in monitoring them over the off season.
If any players can’t make Monday or Wednesday club training Troy has offered to keep a log and we can send them on either Tuesday or Thursday nights to his boxing classes.
Troy is making sporting clubs a major focus for his business moving forward and we are his first major signing. My vision for the next 12 months at least is for the team at Fighting Fit to be an addition of the extensive skills already at West Preston that we can utilise year round.
Thanks,
Eddie
