Following discussions between Sandringham and the St Kilda Football Club’s, regarding the future alignment into the 2012 - 2014 seasons, and a further long-term alignment, it was the decision of both parties to accept the new proposed structure which involved Sandringham reverting to a full-time coach.
On Friday, 8 October 2011, the President Gerard Ryan and CEO John Mennie met Brett Lovett where he was advised that the Sandringham Football Club coaching role was reverting to a full time position for the 2012 season onwards, complementing the new St Kilda structure. During the discussions, Brett was asked if he would consider applying for the full-time coaching position, however, this offer was declined due to Brett’s business commitments. Brett was further offered a part-time position with Sandringham in a development/mentoring capacity which regrettably, he was not in a position to accept.
Sandringham Football Club would like to echo the sentiments conveyed at our recent Presentation Night, acknowledging his tremendous effort during the 2011 VFL season. During Brett’s time as coach, he embraced the Clubs culture and was a key driver during an important stage of the alignment between Sandringham and St Kilda, for which we will always be grateful.
This decision does not in anyway reflect on Brett’s contribution to the Sandringham Football Club and it is with regret that Brett will not be a part of the Zebra’s moving forward.
The President, CEO, Board of Management, Players and members, extend their thanks to Brett and his family for their contribution and support during the 2011 season, and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
Sandringham Football Club, in conjunction with St Kilda Football Club, will shortly commence the recruitment phase of the search for a new full-time Senior Coach for the 2012 season and beyond.
