Dear Junior Club President,

I hope you are well and again thank you for your efforts last season. As you may be aware the AFL(NSW/ACT) recently completed a restructure of the staff in Greater Western Sydney establishing an agile structure that can react quickly to the challenges of the region. Our primary function is simple – “increase the number of people that are participating in AFL”.

In developing our strategic plan for 2012 – 2016 we have reviewed all operations in the region and identified several changes we would like to propose for junior club football. The three changes – 1. increased AFL(NSW/ACT) support of the Regional Committee, 2. AFL(NSW/ACT) delivery of NAB AFL Auskick and 3. a shift to Sunday Match Program are detailed in the document attached.

Our philosophy for these recommendations was threefold :

What is the best long term structure for the growth of the region and code?
How can we continue to increase the quality of our competition?
How can the junior and youth competitions compliment the talent program?

Over the coming weeks we will be seeking feedback relating to these proposals through a range of formats:

Engagement/Feedback process

September 28^th – Information distributed to junior club presidents

October 3rd – Information distributed to participants via Footyweb

October 10^th – Presidents Meeting – Presentation and feedback session

October 11^th to October 24^th – AFL available on request to attend committee meetings and discuss the proposed changes

October 11^th and 13^th – Information sessions for junior club members (Campbelltown, Liverpool, Blacktown and Penrith regions – locations TBC)

October 24^th – Presidents Meeting – Determine club positions on proposed changes

October 30^th – Communication to junior clubs and participants on changes that have been adopted
