Congratulations to Maxine and her girls for their big win. It has been great to see their development over the year. Next season looks promising!
This week the Under 13s played in perfect conditions compared to the previous week; which agreed with their playing style. All girls stepped up and showed a huge improvement from the Preliminary Final. Elise Reading combined beautifully with Jordyn Austin in the ring to total 23 goals. Maggie Clough and Crystal Summers continued to drive play through the centre and around the ring. Even though it was only 2 goals the difference at third quarter, the girls always looked like they had control of the game.

Third Time Lucky!
Congratulations to Joan and her girls for a successful year, finishing on top of the ladder and taking home the Premiership Cup. This is the third year that the Under 17s have been in the grand final and it was great to see them finally have success. Tessa Harrington and Sadie Slorach have both played in the three grand finals.
The Under 17s came out firing in a tight contest. At the second and third quarter change the girls were one goal down. In the fourth quarter the goalies took control of the game with accurate shooting and strong rebounds. The defence end worked hard all day to stop Avoca’s tall goalies from dominating the game. Meagan Armstrong who was named ‘Umpire’s Best on Court’, had a great dual with her opponent, intercepting many passes that were almost impossible. As described by Joan, “Throughout the finals Meagan has had to punch above her weight!” A great team effort all around the court!

Navarre could not keep up the momentum as Natte Bealiba cruised to a 12 goal victory. Their strong defence play across all positions made it difficult for Navarre to play their quick, flowing game.
Whilst the girls were disappointed with their loss, they should be very proud of their efforts coming from fourth position. All final’s games have been crowd pleasers!
Congratulations to Jess Parry for her excellent leadership in 2011. She has become an admirable mentor to all junior and senior netballers.
