The Maroochy Roos are pleased to announce the appointment of Kent Weightman as an assistant coach to the club for season 2012. The news comes two weeks after reapointment of Roger Delaney as Senior Coach and Ben Ayres as assistant.
Kent, who has a strong senior coach background from Country Victoria, has been instumental in developing AFL footbal on the Sunshine Coast, holiding coaching positions with the Suncoast Power for the past decade.
Consequently, many of the young players that made their senior debut for the Roos last year are familiar with Kent and his appointment will help further their development in the senior squad.
The club is currently seeking a third assistant coach who will provdie an emphasis on fitness.

Smiliarly, Delaney's reapointment as senior coach is a major postive step in creating a strong on field presence in season 2012.
At a player meeting on Thursday night, Roger told the group that planning for the 2012 season was well already underway. While he acknowledged that a major turnover of players from season 2010 to 2011 meant we were not able to get the the onfield 'wins' we had hoped for, he did say it a was an enjoyable to watch so many young players make their senior debut.
However, he did say was not interested in slow climb up the ladder as we rebuild the club, saying 2012 was about immediate success, with plans to build on the strong foundation of youth devepolped in 2011.
Player recruitment for 2012 is well underway, with a number of quality footballers already committing to the Roos for next season.Stay tuned for announcements!
The coaching staff have also called on players to help with the recruitment process, asking for potential players details to be passed on to the coaching staff.

Roger also dispelled any rumours that the Roos would not be fielding a Third Division team in 2012, saying it was critical for players not able to compete in Seniors or Reserves to have an avenue to playing regular football.

Pre-season Training will commence on Thursday October 27, however Roger has encouraged all past, present & future players (16s & 18s included) to take part in the social non-contact game organised at Fisherman's Rd each Wednesday from 6pm.
Roger is happy for the game to count for one weekly training session up until Christmas if the players wish.....sure beats sprints or beach runs, I reckon.
