Daniel has dominated play through the midfield this year and his ability to find the footy, and use it with poise and direction is second to none. Forwards love seeing the ball in Daniel’s hand. Daniel is extremely versatile, often going forward and getting on the score sheet. His ability to make his way through traffic coupled with the difficulty of tackling him has been the cause of much frustration for opposition teams. Daniel represented the MCDFNL against Loddon Valley and was one of the better players on the day for the league. Congratulations Daniel on an outstanding season and winning the 2011 Berry Powell Memorial Medal, a very deserving winner of this prestigious award.
RESERVES BEST AND FAIREST
1st – Barry Fletcher – Navarre FNC – 20 Votes
Barry was a clear leader of the Reserves Best & Fairest before injury cruelled him half way through the season. To win this award is a testament to the blistering start to the season Barry had. Barry is a strong mobile ruckman, who gives his midfielders first use and backs them up at ground level. Often going back to help out the defenders, Barry is an exceptional leader and someone Navarre look to on and off the field. He is a much deserved winner of the MCDFNL Reserves Best & Fairest for the 2011 season.
FOOTBALL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR –Josh Driscoll – Navarre FNC
Josh had an outstanding year for Navarre FNC. Straight out of Juniors and into a new league, Josh has burst onto the MCDFNL scene. His early season form was rewarded with selection in the Senior Interleague team against Loddon Valley of which Josh was a solid contributor. Josh exemplifies Navarre’s attack on the ball and through shear force he wills his way through packs. Josh is just as adept in space as he is in close, his long penetrating kicks are a feature of his game. The MCDFNL congratulate Josh on a fantastic season. Well done, Josh.
