The Under 13s copped the coldest conditions of the day. After half time the girls adjusted to the weather conditions showing more accuracy with their passing and playing in front of their opponents. Next week they meet Carisbrook, who head into the grand final undefeated.

Coming from eighth position the Under 15s should be proud of their gallant efforts in the finals. Despite best efforts small mistakes were made and jumped on by the opposition who kept us scoreless in the last quarter. Congratulations to coach Roslyn Comitti, for successfully leading the girls throughout the year.

The Under 17s continued their success with the girls working well as a team, particularly in the final quarter. Whilst trailing by one goal at each change they were quick to turn the game around in the first few minutes of the fourth quarter. Once they took the lead their main aim was to hold Navarre’s centre passes. Simple errors in the first half cost the team a bigger winning margin. Carly and Tessa combined well in the goals to shoot accurately in windy conditions. Defenders had to work extremely hard against a much taller goal shooter. Navarre play against Avoca in the grand final.

Whilst C Grade did not walk away with the honors of playing one more game, they should be proud of their efforts in the final’s series, particularly coming from 7th position. The odds were against them from the beginning, being outclassed by an undefeated top team. Despite the score the girls fought hard all day, not giving in until the final siren. Well done to Bek Seeary for taking on the coaching responsibility this year. A superb effort!

The contest between arch rivals Lexton and Navarre proved to be a crowd pleaser. Navarre lined up with the same team that they ended with in the previous week. Starting slowly, our A Grade girls looked like they were in trouble at half time again; with Lexton leading by 5 goals. The girls were able to use the half time break to pull together and start the second half as a more confident and assertive team; with vocal supporters giving them an extra boost. They had an explosive third quarter where they scored 17 goals to Lexton’s 4. They pounced on errors and were able to build a handy lead as the match progressed. Casey Jess was dynamite in defence and combined well with Caitlyn Murphy creating a lot of turnovers. The last two wins should be a confidence booster heading into the grand final against Natte Bealiba.
