600 GAMES
MICHAEL SHEAHAN played his 350th game last week versus Rockbank and displayed just why he is a valuable member of our club with a superb effort.
When you add 125 games with Sunbury to Mick’s resume you suddenly realise that his commitment to football has been life long.
In fact, we believe that Mick may be the games record holder of the RDFL, with Neil (Mort) Haslett of Lancefield being the only other consideration.
In addition to his prowess on the field Mick has displayed remarkable club loyalty by accepting positions on the Committee and Under 18 Coach.
Many of our older members would be envious of Mick, having been able to play with his two sons let alone being able to continue playing at such a high level for so long.
WELL DONE CONK, MAY YOUR RECORD LAST ANOTHER LIFE TIME.
MATTHEW WALKER played his 150th game also last week versus Rockbank and displayed just how good a footballer he is with a best on ground performance.
Matty came to us from Wallan, where he played over 100 games, and many of us still remember the fear of god he put into some of our players during those days as a coach and player.
Matty also accepted coaching roles with the Burras and his leadership of younger men is something to behold and admire.
It is this desire to lead and teach that keeps Matty going and we hope that we will see him at Diggers for many years to come.
MATTY, YOU HAVE BEEN A GREAT COMPETITOR AND MENTOR FOR THIS CLUB
CRAIG MARSHALL completes the trifecta having played his 100th game 2 weeks ago.
Craig has always displayed remarkable ability on the field and is an absolute gentleman around the club.
Craig’s involvement in RDFL football also includes a junior life at Melton South along with his dad, Ron, who is a RDFL Life Member.
CRAIG, WE HOPE THAT YOUR WORKING LIFE WILL ALLOW YOU TO CONTINUE YOUR INVOLVEMENT AT DIGGERS, IT IS AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE TO KNOW YOU.
