Under 18's : The Tigers got off to a mini-flier with a couple of early goals-the fruits of a persistent attacking style that left East at the starting post. However, East were able to steady and launch a couple of their own raids, that enabled them to slot a couple of goals-this had them in arrears by a mere 2 points at the first change. Goals became a scarce commodity in the early part of the 2nd term, the consequence of each sides'defensive skills being dominant. As if to defy this trend, a barrage of goals appeared just before the main interval- the scoring being done by each side. This resulted in teams being locked together at half time, with each combatant having the season on the line and searching for ways to get the advantage over the other. The goal scoring spree continued in the 3rd quarter as the each went goal for goal for the duration of the term. In a tense, see-sawing affair, East just shaded the Tigers by 2 points as heads pointed towards home. The final run-in saw both sides committ skill errors as the pressure mounted, but it was Portland who weathered the situation in superior fashion to gain access to next week's 1st semi-final by a 10 point margin. There were strong efforts from around the ground, with Ben Walker relishing the conditions to turn in a prolific possession game. Brody Fishwick was at his industrious best, Dylan Barr was always a threat up front and finished with 4 goals, whilst others to shine were Greg Faure, skipper Zane Wakely and the busy Josh Slade who celebrated his 50th Club game in fine style.
Final Scores: Portland 11-7=73
East Gambier 9-9=63
