The U17’s game had top spot up for grabs. The game was an even contest, except for the 2nd quarter, where the LG boys got on top. For some reason, in this quarter, a lot of boys seemed to be just watching and waiting for something to happen, instead of attacking the ball and making it happen. This was the message that Jonesy gave the boys as the long break, and they improved in the 2nd half. The boys know they didn’t play their best footy and still only went down by a couple of goals, so if they can lift their intensity at the ball, they should be confident when they meet again in the finals
Best Players: J. Harding, J. Wakefield, S. Grabasch, R. Irwin, J. Formosa, M. Wright
The 2’s continued on with their good form, having a good 1st quarter and not letting up for the whole game. The entire team contributed, and this shows up when your best players are made up of back’s, middles and forwards. The backline has held the side together for the last few years, and are now being rewarded for the efforts, with the midfield really getting some run and working together, and with Spikka, Chopper and Bowlsey down forward keeping the scoreboard ticking over. With a number of Senior players returning from injury, the 2’s team should be able to be more settled over the last 2 home and away games.
Best Players: Hilly, Chopper, Bowlesy, Spikka, Romper, & Magic
After the Seniors great win against Elmore the previous week, the challenge was there for them to continue this form and cement their spot in the final 5. They knew that LG were on a 4 game winning streak and would be desperate to continue and possibly take their spot. It was a fast paced game, with the boys winning a lot of possessions, but kept the opposition in the game with inaccurate kicking for goal. After half time our conversion rate improved, and the boys kicked away in the last quarter with a 7 goal haul. It was great to see Sammy back, playing his hard at- it style, and being rewarded with 4 goals. Hopefully the other hard at- it bloke, in Ethan is OK, after he collected a high knock and had to be taken to hospital for observation. (must have been a bit off the planet, as I heard he thought Webby was his Dad).As Jugger said after the match, it was probably the team’s best 4 quarter effort for the year, and something they need to continue, as they build the momentum over the last few games. Colbo are always a hard side to beat on their home turf, so the boys will need to continue their 4 quarter effort today
Best Players: Roh, Gav, Beafy, Wrighty, Louey & Eddie
