The Lismore Swans have produced a strong performance to run all over Byron in Saturdays knock out semi final at Lismore's Mortimor Oval. On a day that marked a special milestone of 200 club games for Roly Barrett his team mates did not dissapoint.
The Swans started off strong in the first term with Westy getting the Swans off to a flyer with 2 quick goals as Lismore had 8 scoring shots to one in the first term but the Swans failed to punish the Magpies on the score board as they kicked 3.5 to 0.1.
The second term saw a Webby domination up forward, as the Swans stepped up the tempo to kick 7 goals to 3 against the breeze to blow out the margin by half time. The Swans midfield continued to drive the ball forward and had many options to choose from whilst the backline stood firm as the Swans extended their lead to 43 points at the main break.
The Lismore side stepped it up an extra notch in the third term kicking towards a vocal Lismore support base as the forward line proved dangerous kicking 5 goals 6 to 2.1 and if it hadn't been for some inaccurate kicking the 65 point lead at three quarted time could have been much worse.
The final term saw the Swans drop the ball early and to Byron's credit were able to kick a few quick goals and wake up the Lismore side who got back on board mid way through the quarter to kick a few goals of their own and maintain a 65 point victory.
Congratulations to the Lismore team for a big effort and for coach Steve who has taken his side to the prelimnary final. A fantastic performance by the Swans who will now look forard to their next challenge in a fortnights time as they make their way to the final match of the season before the grand final.
