INDUCTED JULY 30, 2011
Rob Burns is indeed a rare combination of qualities. Courageous to a fault, tough and feared, and fiercely loyal. He was also determined, hard working and incredibly smart and skillful. He could find the ball in heavy traffic and use it under enormous pressure. Rob started his senior career in 1988 as a sixteen year old, playing a key role in the premiership of that year. He was again instrumental in the 1989 premiership. He played in the losing 1998 grand final against St Kilda City and was named our best player that day. As an on baller, Rob won best and fairest in 1995,1999 and 2000. He was as durable as he was brilliant with over 300 games . In our last premiership year 2007, Rob was leading the best and fairest until a calf injury cruelled his finals aspirations, as it had done in 2004. He returned in 2008 and devoted himself to helping out the young players in the reserves, where he collected another premiership. Rob has served extensively on the committee. Rob is truly a great of Springvale Districts.
