This year has seen the inauguration of the Call-to-Arms Cup which will be played for between West Gambier and East Gambier.
This award was struck to heighten awareness of men's health issues and more specifically men's cancer. The decision was made to have West Gambier and East Gambier as the clubs involved was to remember Phil Muhovics,a great servant of both clubs. Phil both played and coached at senior level at East Gambier, and similarly had played senior footy at West and was a coach at junior level with West Gambier at the time of his passing.
The player adjudged the best on the ground at each contesting of the Call-to-Arms Cup will be presented with the Phil Muhovics Memorial Medal on the ground at the end of the match by a member of the Muhovics family.
In it's inaugural year, West Gambier earned the right to hold the Call-to-Arms Cup with a thrilling 5 point win at Malseed Park. Phil's wife Jacinta presented West Gambier's Tom Holmes with the Phil Muhovics Memorial Medal as the best player on the ground after a brilliant display of football in tough conditions.
