With the ledger balanced at one win each out of their two clashes this season, the Tweed Coast Tigers and Lismore Swans will both be eager to take the points when the sides meet tomorrow at Tigerland Pottsville.
Tigers President Mark Downward is looking forward to the clash saying “The sun is shining and our ground at Pottsville is in perfect condition for football. We are hoping for a large home crowd to support us in this important clash. The jumping castle will be up for the kids and with the forecast looking the goods we are pumped for a big day of AFL on the Tweed Coast on Saturday.”
Injuries have not allowed the Tigers to field their full squad yet this season and Saturday’s game will see them without star ruckman Nathan Wilson (injured ankle) but with his giant partner in the ruck Brennan Lye shouldering the load the Tigers are determined to stamp their authority on the Summerland AFL Ladder as they head into the second half of the season.
Currently on top of the ladder the Tigers will be looking to avenge their only loss this season which was at the hands of the Swans in Rd 6, and broke the Tigers 24 game winning streak. That game had plenty of fire including several melees and a send off, tomorrows clash is sure to continue the great battles between the two clubs.
The Tigers have plenty of talent in their line-up with quality onballers Jimmy Walle, Jai Purcell and John Bevan dominating the middle this season and with star forward Ash Gemmill up forward kicking bags of goals the Tigers should prove to be a handful for the Swans at Tigerland, Pottsville. With a disjointed season because of disruptions from rain for both clubs, fitness could prove the difference in this clash.
The Tigers will be bolstered with the return from injury of backman Josh Edwards, Timmy Wells and small forward Shane Peddie.
The Game starts at 2pm at Tigerland, Pottsville Oval.
