MOYHU will avoid making wholesale changes to its game plan for Saturday’s crucial clash with Greta despite the Hoppers’ stop-start opening to the season.
Widely tipped to be a big improver this year under new coach John McNamara, Moyhu is one of five clubs sitting between sixth and 11th with two wins and two losses each.
Another loss to follow last week’s surprise defeat to Whorouly this weekend could have dire ramifications for the Hoppers but utility Jeremy Wilson, who returns from a three-week groin injury, said Moyhu had been focused on getting the little things right this week.
“I’ve think we’ve been playing all right,” Wilson said.
“I think Whorouly are a pretty good side — I think they’ve been a bit underrated — and we played well in patches but we let ourselves down with our concentration as much as anything else.
“We need to work on putting the full four quarters together and we’ve also been working on a tackling pressure.”
Wilson said clean ball use would be another focus this week.
“I think John (McNamara) was pretty happy with our defence last week but our delivery going forward and our midfield wasn’t great, so that’s something else we’ll look to improve.”
In other matches, Whorouly and King Valley will meet in what looks an intriguing match.
The Roos are undefeated and flying high but the Lions last week proved they’re more than capable of sticking it to the league’s better sides.
Bonnie Doon broke new ground last week, becoming the first former Benalla and District club to beat an original Ovens and King team, but will find Benalla All Blacks a much tougher task than North Wangaratta.
Milawa will ensure the Hawks’ horror start to the season continues and Tarrawingee will have a percentage booster against Tatong.
Glenrowan and Bright should have a tight tussle while at Swanpool, the Swans and Goorambat will battle for their first wins of the season.
