A long journey out to Westbourne on a windswept oval, saw us take on the boys from the west in an ugly battle that is best forgotten quickly. In possibly our worst performance so far we simply did not want the footy as much as our opponents and were not willing to make the team sacrifices required to win a game of football. This is definately an opportunity that we let slip.
As spoken after the game the areas we need to work on to improve are structures, work rate and willingness to sacrifice our games for our mates. The best thing about footy is we move on quickly and next week comes very fast, a chance for us to atone for an embarrassing performance saturday.
There were few 4 quarter performers but Luke Brouwer again provided a spark and pace in the mids, Luke Day is working into great form, Ben Scalora tried his best to lift teamates and captain Spikka gave his all as always.
Was great to see so many boys stick around and support the seniors in getting their first win on the board. While watching them sing the song we had to be a little jealous and come out next week hungry for that success.
