The Tweed Coast Tigers head to Lismore this Saturday in a Grand Final rematch with plenty of feeling between the two sides. The Tigers easily accounted for the Swans in Rd 1 by 51 points and are currently sitting atop of the Summerland League table as the only undefeated side, whilst Lismore are in 4th position.
For the Swans this will be their first home game of the season because of ground closures due to recent wet weather, but now the sun is shining and the grounds have dried up the Swans will be looking to upset the champs on their home turf.
The Tigers are coming of an easy win against Nimbin and are looking forward to the challenge of playing Lismore on the bigger ground which should allow the Tigers to play their brand of tough running football.
With several star players returning this week including onballer Jimmy Walle and giant ruckman Nathan Wilson the Tigers have trained well in preparation for the clash.
Captain Jai Purcel said “We love playing Lismore, the 2 clubs have developed a strong rivalry since we beat them in the 2010 Grand Final. We have been working hard on our fitness and skills as a team and we are very determined to bring home the points this Saturday. In the past these games have been fiery, with a lot of passion and we don’t expect it to be any different tomorrow.”
The Tigers will be without backman Josh Edwards (injury) and John West (holidays) but are confident of having the playing depth to cover them.
The Game starts at 2pm at Mortimor Oval, Lismore.
All Tigers Supporters are encouraged to make the trek to Lismore to support the Tigers.
