SENIORS:
Last weeks round 4 clash against reigning premiers Albion promised to be the match of the round and that`s exactly what both teams delivered. Altona went into the game undermanned with Vice Captain Brett Shiels, ruckman Richard Riak, and young gun Tyler Healy all out injured so with these key outs the task of beating Albion was always going to be a big one.
It was a tough hard encounter from the opening bounce with both teams desperate to get the upper hand. Neither team were prepared to give an inch and at quarter time there was only 3 points difference Albions way.
The second quarter was another arm wrestle but finally Albion got a small break and went into the main break with a 12 point lead.
Altona hit back well in the third quarter kicking 4 goals to 2 and with our midfield getting on top and with Ziggy showing his class we managed to reduce the deficit to be only 2 points down at three quarter time.
The last quarter started off even but the task got harder when full back Nathan Leslie went off injured. This meant we lost Johnno Hevern as a forward option as he was sent back to stop Albions goal kicking machine Bloomfield. Our boys gave it a great shake but injuries finally took their toll and we went down by a 19 points. The final score was Albion 14. 10. 94 defeated Altona 11. 9. 75.
