Dear All
Now in our 41st year of operation the Macquarie University Australian Football Club continues to experience a very exciting growth trend of 25% membership expansion year on year. I’m proud to say that we’re officially the largest senior AFL community organization in Sydney; fielding seven teams across 6 divisions, made up by four Senior Men’s, one Senior Women’s and two Under 18 sides. This membership depth is testament to our inclusive culture – something to be very proud of.
Leave no doubt in your mind that we are one of Sydney’s most progressive and exciting sporting clubs and if there was ever a time in history to be part of our club – that time is now!
Our Club Committee has been working very hard behind the scenes to improve both the off-field standards and on-field performance of this football club. It goes without saying that the more administrative structure the club has in place; the better your football experience will be.
Our achievements to date include:
-
Expanding the Club Committee from seven members too nine by electing a Vice-President and an additional female representative.
-
Expanding the Coaching Staff from seven too ten
-
The introduction of several new roles including Publicist, Fundraising & Events and Complaints Officer.
Now, while these appointments are an indication that the MUAFC is heading in the right direction, we also recognizes that there are still many improvements that need to be made.
To put things into perspective, over the course of the season:
-
The MUAFC competes in over 126 matches
-
There are over 1100 jobs that need to be completed
-
Half of those jobs will be during away games
In summary, 1100 jobs is an impossible task for our 26 hard working volunteer staffers to undertake single handedly - ultimately, we rely on YOUR support to ensure things run smoothly ie: the support of all members, family, friends and supporters to help us maintain our success.
In the theme of Superfiend; “Thumbs UP” to you for ensuring that our inclusive culture continues to breed success!
And if I can leave you with one last thought; "recognition does a lot for a person’s soul". The next time Suzanne straps your ankle, Wrighty deafens you with his time keeping hooter or the next time you buy a Powerade from Tash in the canteen, please give them a pat on the back and thank them for volunteering their time to assist you.
Here is to continued success.
Regards
Luke Gemmill
