Junior Development a full time job
In keeping with the Werribee Football Club’s commitment to the community, the position of Junior Development Officer has been made into a full time role. Chris Gallagher, who held the part time position after taking over from club vice captain Rob Castello in 2010, will continue in the role.
In the delivery of a raft or programs and services to the Wyndham community both Chris and Tom Allwright, a new player to the club, have been visiting schools in the City of Wyndham. They have helped with years 9 and 10 football training at MacKillop College to assist in their preparation for the coming school football season and at Little River Primary.
The North Melbourne Football Club and Werribee Football Club had their first joint primary school visit for the year at the Little River Primary School on the 15th of March. The visit consisted of an hour long skills clinic that included goal kicking, handball target, one on one marking and a running bounce relay. This was followed by a Q and A session and a photo with the players. Grades 3-6 participated and the players in attendance were Josh Bryce, Jarrod Risol, Tom Allwright, Cameron Richardson, Majak Daw and Daniel Wells.
Early this year Chris, with new coach Paul Satterley, held a forum with local coaches to look at new and exciting initiatives we can deliver to clubs. As a result of this meeting, the club will seek to have greater inclusion of all players in the Dale Morris Squad for aspiring young footballers. Dale is a product of the VFL player pathway and most recently players such as Dale, Michael Barlow and James Podsiadly have made a huge impact in the AFL. Werribee sees this as a great opportunity to develop local players and ultimately provide them with the opportunity to further their football careers.
The club is mindful that our position as a premier club within the region provides us with the latest resources to benefit clubs and also look at the assistance we are providing coaches within the local area. This is a primary focus for the 2011 season.
