After the Reserve grade started the day off in winning style, early signs looked promising as the Hornets drew four goals clear of Alex Hills early in the first Half.
To Alex Hills credit, they continued to fight back and the remainder of the game was very close with both teams going goal for goal.
Ben Nylon Rowe and Luke Muirhead were offering good targets up forward whilst Richard Harrison was terrific across half back.
With ten minutes remaining the Hornets jumped to a two goal lead but Alex Hills kept coming and drew with a five point with 1 minute remaining.
A contentious free kick and subsequent 50 metre penalty cost the home team dearly as the Alex Hills player kicked truely from point blank range.
With 50 seconds on the clock the Hornets cleared the ball from the centre and Steven jackson marked just inside the fifty meter line.
He then short passed to a Hornets player just 20 metres out but the umpire dissallowed the kick and Jacko was forced to try and win the game with the last kick of the day.
Unfortunetly the kick missed the target and the boys were forced to consider what might have been.
It was a shame because the boys had worked so hard for many months to prepare for this game, but in the end it was a lack of discipline that cost them dearly.
Congratulations to marc gregory and his reserve grade on a good first up win.
