SEASON 2011

Happy New Year to everyone & we hope you all had a safe, healthy and happy start to the New Year.

We know that most of you will be focussed on the second half of summer sport but we are writing to update you on the forthcoming 2011 season.

REGISTRATION DAY | SUNDAY 13 FEBRUARY

Registration day is Sunday 13 February, 10:30 am to 1:30 pm at our clubrooms. Club Sponsor Marshall White has again kindly provided advertising boards & we thank Andrew Hayne and John Manton from Marshall White for these. For returning players, registration can be either in person or online. If you wish to register online, please visit our club website www.eastmalverknights.com.au where online payment is made via PayPal.

MSJFL UPDATE

Late last year, AFL Victoria endorsed a review of the Moorabbin Saints Junior Football League (MSJFL). This review recommended a closer relationship be established between MSJFL and Southern Football League (SFL). Regretfully, this recommendation was not embraced by the MSJFL which may impact on administrative support for the 2011 season. In addition, the past President of the MSJFL resigned and an interim President appointed until a formal Board is established to run a more independent league in the future.

Despite this uncertainty, we can confirm the EMJFC will again be competing in the MSJFL. While we anticipate the recent changes with the MSJFL may lead to some occasional disruption, we ask for your patience while the MSJFL beds down its new administration.

We would like to acknowledge the hard work and support of SFL’s CEO, Wayne Holdsworth, SFL’s Football Operations Officer David Cannizzo (who administered the competition since EMJFC joined the MSJFL), and MSJFL Umpires Director Adrian Fisher (who has worked closely with us in establishing the Umpires Academy).

As a Club, it is imperative we support our sponsors’ businesses. In 2011, we will produce a sponsor’s directory to assist all club members’ support our sponsors’ businesses.

NIGHT OF KNIGHTS

Our one major fund raising event held each year is the Night of Knights. Recent seasons has seen a general decline in numbers. To ensure registration costs are minimised & equipment & facilities continue to be improved, we need to raise funds in addition to what we receive in sponsorship. Accordingly, we ask all families to support the 2011 Night of Knights. If you have any ideas or would like to get involved, please contact our Club Social Secretary Kate Gilbert ASAP, as we’ll be holding our function much earlier this season than previously.

SEASON COMMENCEMENT | SUNDAY 10 APRIL

Round 1 for Season 2011 commences Sunday April 10^th 2011 (one week before Easter). Round 2 will then be on Sunday 1^st May (after the school holidays and Anzac Day). The Club will shortly confirm a date for pre-season training following meetings with Stonnington Council & Registration Day.

COACHING POSITIONS

We require coaches for U11 (x1) & U13 (x2). If you want to share in this rewarding experience with your child, please let one of your committee know as soon as possible. We can promise you will not regret it.

COMMITTEE 2011 | WELCOME ROY FISH & KRISTIE STEFANAC

Thankyou to all returning Committee Members. We would also like to officially welcome Roy Fish and Kristy Stefanac to the committee. Roy will be assisting with football operations while Kristie will manage Club merchandising. This year, the Club has invested in a new range of exciting merchandise for our Knights and parents alike. Keep an eye on the Club website for more details.

CONCLUSION

We look forward to building on the successful support structure for both coaches and team managers at all levels to ensure that as a club, our excellence off the field is reflected on the field.
