The Tigers in 2011
The 2011 VFL fixture sees the Werribee Tigers hosting 10 home games @ Avalon Airport Oval @ Chirnside Park. The good news for Tigers fans is that, this includes 2 home matches against arch rivals Williamstown.
Werribee CEO Mark Penaluna said ‘We are particularly pleased that our initial home games against Williamstown and North Ballarat (VFL Premiers 2008, 2009 & 2010) are Saturday night fixtures. We feel this gives more people the opportunity to come to games and the atmosphere is very family friendly”.
ABC TV will broadcast a record 4 matches at the Tigers home base this year - Werribee and Williamstown each hosting 2. Mark sees this as a win for all concerned” This provides an outstanding opportunity for local businesses to promote themselves with signage, club apparel and other ideas we have, to a statewide audience”.
Due to the renovations to their home ground Williamstown will play 5” home” games @ Avalon Airport Oval and the two games against the Tigers.
When you add SuperRules and the entire WRFL finals series there is no doubt- Avalon Airport Oval is the football centre of the west.
Werribee is also pleased to announce that the new electronic scoreboard is on track to be up and running for the first game of the season. More details will be coming soon regarding the construction and unveiling.
