El Presidente: Paul Rolfe
Rolfey is President of the senior football club management committee. This is his third year as president after previously serving as vice president for an indeterminate number of years. Rolfey does his best work at home in producing footballers with his better half Andrea. Aaron, Taylor and Jackson have all played representative footy for Queensland in under age groups to the U/18s and Squiz (Taylor), had a season with the GC17s. All three were regulars in the seniors season 2010. The pedigree is clearly derived from mum-in-law Lois and Paul's Dad who donned the bloods jumper for 8 games in 1961 at the Lake Oval.
Paul runs a building business which he sometimes finds time to attend, but is more often found in (i) the precinct of Merrimac planning an assault on a premiership or a past coach, or (ii) persuing a form guide, or (iii) gouging $$$ from fellow committee members to purchase horses to run under his banner of Crown Racing, or (iv) boarding a plane for Flemington or Rosehill. Occasionally he scans Sportingbet odds for QAFL games, and sometimes can be seen following Mark Frawley around hoping for free tickets to Eagle Farm via Denpasar.
Generous to a fault with his time and resources, Rolfey is excited in the leadup to season 2011 and invites all to join the journey. His likeness and contact details appear on the Contacts page. Please feel free to make contact on any matter associated with the footy club or his other loves, excluding Andrea.
Treasurer: Mark Frawley
Mark has been on the Mgt Com since 2010 when he assumed the office of Secretary. He has since been demoted to Treasurer and works tirelessly to developing and achieving annual budget processes.
He has two major, and any number of minor handicaps. The first is he is an ex Southport player who strung together 80 games between 1984 and 1987 including a premiership in 1985. Over the four years that is 20 games/year, so Mark must have been a resilient and fit athlete, although we doubt it. During that period the selectors saw fit to hand him a Queensland representative jumper twice in 1986. The second is he married a Geebung supporter. Remarkably, Lisa continues to be his wife, but the whisper is she is now a happy SUN. Mark and Lisa have 3 kids, Jenney, Liam (senior player) and Shae.
Previous footy history includes a couple of runs with the Saints Magoos, a year as Captain Coach of Toowoomba Tigers in 1982, 70 games with East Ballarat – do all Frawleys hail from Ballarat? – and 40 games with Caulfield YCW. The latter suggests a gentleman’s style of play.
You might be surprised to learn Mark is a Tourism Executive involved with a number of travel and tourism related companies including management of Semara Resort and Spa in Seminyak and Uluwatu in Bali. Ya dong! Anyone interested in fine tuning their cultural and /or geographic knowledge of Bali and other international/domestic destinations, please contact Mark.
His loves are not surprisingly, travel, snow skiing, eating, drinking and watching all sports, especially AFL. Hates losing and reality TV except AFL telecasts. Current goals include establishing the Broadbeach Cats as a power in QAFL and NEAFL, and to continue to strengthen the Broadbeach tradition of a strong junior club fostering Aussie Rules.
Please make yourself known and feel free to approach Mark on any football matter. A reasonable likeness and contact details can be found on the Contacts page.
