NCCUA President, Darrel Luck said that this was a positive step by the new BDAFL board members and General Manager. He also indicated that the Committee and members of the NCCUA endorsed the re-appointment of Coach Hampshire.
The NCCUA President made the following statement, "It makes sense for the BDAFL Board and General Manager to show their continued commitment to umpiring by filling the Umpires Coach’s position as quickly as they have. This helps planning for the coming season and we thank them for their help and support.”
The decision by the BDAFL now gives the NCCUA an opportunity to continue planning with the Umpires Coach for season 2011. Umpire recruitment and retention are paramount in the continuing success of the BDAFL competition, especially with the inclusion of Singleton AFC into the Black Diamond Cup. With the incumbent Umpires Coach now re-appointed, the opportunity for a smooth transition into the 2011 BDAFL season is now possible.
“With the majority of the incumbent Committee being re-elected at the NCCUA AGM in November 2010, the initiatives that were implemented last season by the Committee (in conjunction with the Umpires Coach) can be built upon by the umpiring group in 2011. The ongoing commitment from the NCCUA to continue to work closely with junior Umpires on the Central Coast and in Newcastle is one key policy which will grow umpiring numbers and allow junior umpires the opportunity to follow the umpiring pathway into the Black Diamond Cup."
The NCCUA Committee and members congratulate Peter Hampshire on his re-appointment as Umpires Coach and look forward to working with Peter in 2011.
