It came as no surprise that perfect weather at Bensons Lane greeted the boys as we prepared for our third encounter with local rival Penrith, now it its 25th year. These games are always tough encounters, and these would prove to be no different.
RESERVES MATCH REPORT V PENRITH RAMS
With the Hawkesbury Doctor slowly picking up speed from the mountains, the ressies took to field with a strong tea, reday to dispose of the Rams early. The first quarter started with a bang, The Rams scored the first goal through a centre clearance, before the Jets got into gear and put through two of their own to go into quarter time with an 8 point lead. Chris Disco Kyle was in scintillating form on the ball, presenting options and feeding the likes of Jimmy Sorry ladies, I’m taken Cadet, Don Can I borrow your singlet Waterston, Dave Norahs Beacroft and Dayne Tangles Walker to deliver the ball up forward to key targets Domma Bundy Draught Thanks Shipley and Matt My brother is Greek Davidson. An unfortunate injury to Penrith defender Daniel Barnes resulted in the 1sr quarter being cut short by 10 minutes as the stretcher was called for, thankfully Daniel was not seriously injured.
The second term saw the breeze kick up and Penrith take full use of it, the Jets defence of Captains Nick It’s not mascara Bennett and Chris Hands Like Feet Collins standing up to be counted, repelling everything that the Rams threw at them. Another injury to a Penrith defender Scott Simington, this time more serious, saw an ambulance called and the second quarter called short by 17 minutes. All at the Jets wish Scott all the best in his recovery, get well soon mate. The Jets headed to half time with a slender 21 point lead.
The second half, reduced in length due to the two injuries to the opposition, saw the Jets take the initiative for the remainder of the game, taking on the Penrith team with confidence, handpassing at will, using their running brigade to great effect. Dan Seymour Button, returning from injury against his former club, was unstoppable on the back flank, ably assisted by Mick I’m not from there!! Yee, who was in fine form on the wing and flank. Unfortunately, in the last few minutes of the game, with the result a foregone conclusion, Disco charged into a pack and was hit with a stray knee to the head. After another ambulance was called, further tests found two depressed fractures to the cheekbone. After playing a starring role in the Jets win, we wish Disco a speedy recovery. In the end, the Jets ran away with a 55 point win, 10.9-69 to 2.2-14.

Best Players: Chris Kyle, Matt Davidson, Mick Yee, Don Waterston, Dan Button, Chris Collins.
SENIORS MATCH REPORT V PENRITH RAMS
Seniors took to the field with the Doctor in full effect , favouring no team by blowing straight across the ground. The game started fast and furious, with both team attacking the ball with ferocity. The Rams hit the scoreboard first through Cummings, but the Jets steadied, adding two of their own to take a 6 point lead to the break. Andrew This is my business card Travers was in everything early, playing ruck and half back with aplomb, and the on-ball players of Casey 49 days to go Wenselowski, Nick How good is Lingy? Milkins and Steve I love Mykonos Davidson and ruckman Carl Whats my nickname Doering had their fair share of centre clearances. Up forward, Jon Did somebody say pe… Schoenmaker and Chris The other C-Moore Moore had plenty of delivery from up field.
The second quarter saw the home team put in a lacklustre effort considering their earlier efforts, if not for the solid defence of Peter Squirtz Kyle, Alex Am I really better than Chris?? Wynne, Daniel I made it to training this week Guthridge, Aaron Lil Hank Bayne and a superb tagging effort from Paul Boggsy Sutcliffe on Penrith’s key player Chivas, the score could’ve been a lot worse. Penrith took full advantage of sloppy turnovers and headed to the main break with an attainable 15 point lead.
After a laugh at half time, the focus was back on having fun on the paddock, and the results paid off. After an inspiring run and phenomenal bounce down the wing by Pete I can do that Brown, the Jets camped the ball in their 50 for most of the quarter but due to the wind, couldn’t kick straight, adding 3 goals 7, but it was worse for the Rams, who added 3 goals 10 behinds. The premiership quarter lived up its reputation, with some great passages of play from both teams, and set up a tense final quarter.
And so it started…the Jets kicked the first 3 goal of the quarter to get within five pints of Penrith, and kept coming, but the Rams had all the answers, adding three of their own to quash any hopes of a rare victory for Nor-West, and ran out winners by 24 points, Penrith 12.18-90 to Nor-West 9.12-66.
Goals: Chris Moore 3 (ECE), Andrew Travers 2, Casey Wenselowski, Mat Laurence, Nick Milkins, Stephen Davidson
Best Players: Paul Sutcliffe, Andrew Travers, Aaron Bayne, Peter Kyle, Chris Moore (ECE), Daniel Guthridge.
The Jets head to Fairfax Reserve to take on Camden in a must win game to salvage some pride from season 2008.
