The Western Magpies AFC are proud to announce the reappointment of 2010 AFL Sports Ready U/18 Division 1 Premiership Coach Des Lashman to lead the Western Magpies U/18 Div 1 title defense in 2011. 2011 will be Lashmans fourth year coaching the Western Magpies U/18 Team that has seen the club rise from missing the finals in 2008, to Grand Finalist and runner up to Morningside in 2009 and to Premiers in 2010 over Redland.
Lashman was a long time player for the Sherwood FC playing in 7 winning Premiership Teams and has also been a previous senior coach at the club.
Western Magpies AFC Football Manager Anthony McDonald said, “It is great to have Des on board to Coach our U/18 team again in 2011. He continually works at improving himself as a coach and his down to earth nature allows him to relate very well with this age group and he has an outstanding report with his players”
Lashman said, “I am delighted to be coaching the Western Magpies U/18’s again in 2011. We have a number of our 2010 Premiership Team still eligible in 2011 and some great talent coming through the Sherwood FC U/16’s as well as from other Western Corridor Junior Clubs.”
Any players wishing to be involved in the Western Magpies U/18 program that are not involved in the Scorpions Training Squads should be training with the Western Magpies seniors prior to Christmas. Training is on Tuesday and Thursday Nights from 5.45pm at Chelmer Oval, 41 Chelmer St East, Chelmer.
