ELEVEN men from the Macquarie University Australian Football Club have teamed together to grow their moustaches over a month for the “Movember” charity.
Each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on tens of thousands of men’s faces around the world, with the sole aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and depression.
Club Mo-bros team captain Luke Gemmill said during the past two years his grandfather had undergone several prostate-related operations and treatments.
“It’s through his experience that I’ve been motivated to get behind this great cause, and I’m proud to have the support of my teammates”.
Along with the men of the club, the women’s team is also getting involved as Mo-Sistas.
Kim Woldhuis said that “with our finger moustaches we’re right behind the men”.
While Movember was about great mates, fun and the rivalry of face hair growing prowess, the aim was to raise money, Gemmill said.
“We’ve set a very modest target to raise $200 each, with every dollar after that a major bonus,”
