Mt Burr United Football Club congratulate Henry Crauford of Mt Gambier on winning the Sport SA Country Athlete of the Year Award.
Henry is from the Blue Lake Y Swimming Club in Mt Gambier and was nominated for Country Athlete of the Year on Octber 29th. This award was for residents in country South Australia who achieved outstanding sporting success in South Australian country competitions for the period Oct 1st 2009 to Oct 18th 2010.
Earlier this year Mount Gambier swimmer Henry Crauford successfully defended his SA State Swimming titles in Adelaide.
Then only twelve-years-old, Henry took gold in the 50 metre freestyle and gold in the 50 metre backstroke. He also won silver in the 50 metre breast stroke and bronze in the 50 metre butterfly.
Henry won ‘Country Athlete of the Year’ award which was announced at ‘The Ultimate Celebration of South Australian Sport’ at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Nov 20th.
The event honoured the State's most outstanding sportspeople for 2010 as well as showcasing our all time sporting heroes from the history books as they were inducted into the inaugural South Australian Sport Hall of Fame.
