The Sandringham Football Club is pleased to
announce Brett Lovett as the Senior Coach in 2011. After a few weeks of
meetings and interviews the board met last night and agreed that Lovett was the
right man for the job - Lovett has signed for 2 years but the club is looking
forward to him spending many successful years at Trevor Barker Oval. Although Brett will be involved with St Kilda
(our AFL affiliate) he will not have a full time role there and instead just
have a part time role at Sandringham.
Lovett played 235 games for Melbourne in the
80's and 90's (Ironically with our former coach Andy Lovell) and represented
Victoria on 6 occasions, after his football career Lovett went on to coach
Frankston. Lovett was a much-loved man at Frankston. In his six years as
coach of the Dolphins he took the club to the finals on three occasions. To do
so with a standalone club, the majority of whose players were recruited from
the local area was a remarkable feat.
Since leaving Frankston he has worked in his
own business however has now made the decision to come back to coaching after
being pursued by Sandringham.
We look forward to a bright future under
Brett!
