At 30 you are a bit smarter when the season comes to a close and the State League clubs sounding you out.
You know that the more crap the club, the higher the offer (no this year we have a new coach and are gonna recruits some stars!) and that come a rainy Saturday in June, miserable and facing your 5th loss in a row that being at a good, financial and successful club is better than the ego stroking and cash offer made in the previous October or November.
I tend to think that perhaps Lucas Matthews has reached such a point in his life where he is happy in his career, has a beautiful little familiy, bought a house in Tewantin, and whilst content he scored his first Premiership Medallion in 2010, wouldn't mind helping make a bit of history chasing Back2Back in 2011.
Plus with Western Magpies coming back into the Pineapple Hotel Cup competition there will be greater competition and greater challenges than ever before.
Great to hear that Lucas will be back in 2011 and along with some young talent pushing up from the Under 18's and a few hand picked recruits, we are sure he will be pivotal in the Tigers again mounting a challenge next season
