After celebrations continued up until the Wednesday following their historic win in the Grand Final on Saturday, almost all of the senior players made the trek to Melbourne on the Thursday afternoon before flying to Cairns on Friday. Travelling to Melbourne they had a chance to relax and catch up on sleep before having an overnight stay in Melbourne. This of course meant a mandatory visit to Crown and then into the city for some entertainment.
Up early on Friday and up to Cairns. The boys then enjoyed themselves Friday night watched the AFL on Saturday and then karting, etc on Sunday. On the Monday it was time to fly home, after a hectic week's worth of celebrating a few of the boys were a bit tired. A delay in their flight departure saw the boys take an opportunity to get a bit more sleep on the terminal's waiting seats.
The call came across that the flight to Melbourne was ready or boarding, so all got their gear together ready to go, but one slumbered on. Quickly a ringleader clued in a nearby shop assistant and got all his teammates to hide further up the terminal. When all were set the shop assistant roused the sleeping beauty and informed him
"I think your flights been called and all your mates have gone!".
Well, sleeping beauty looked around all wild eyed and couldn't see any of his mates, began to panic that he'd missed his flight. But as he heard a heap of laughter ring out down the terminal and knew he'd been had. He jumped up and joined the group cursing them heartily.
The lad made it holme, no worries.
