Panton Hill Football Club players will soon train under new lights, thanks to a $60,000 State Government grant, Yan Yean MP Danielle Green announced today.Danielle Green said the Club would receive $60,000 as part of the latest round of the Country Football and Netball Program, a joint Victorian Government, AFL, Netball Victoria and Victorian Country Football League initiative.
“Panton Hill is a big footy town with almost half of the population of the town directly involved in the club,” Ms Green said.
“I’m proud to deliver $60,000 to upgrade their lights, a much needed project for the club.”
Ms Green said the project was one of twelve to share in the latest round of Program funding.
Panton Hill FC President Scott Walker thanked local member Danielle Green and the State Government for the funding saying it would mean juniors could now have more space to train on winter nights and help the club expand.
Nillumbik Mayor and Panton Hill FC parent Ken King also welcomed the announcement, saying he looked forward to continuing to work with Danielle Green and the State Government to implement the project.
The Panton Hill project will upgrade the switchboard and install four new floodlight poles to increase lighting levels to a training standard of 50 lux. Project includes infrastructure to increase lighting levels to over 100lux in the future.
“These improvements will inject a sense of club pride, bring more people together, boost community spirit and ensure everyone can access and enjoy the benefits of ,” Ms Green said.
“The Victorian Government is proud to work with councils on behalf of clubs, to develop or upgrade of football and netball facilities.
“In the last five years the Victorian Government has provided more than $11 million for over 290 community projects, with a total cost of $30 million under the Country Football and Netball Program,” Ms Green said.
Sport and Recreation Minister, James Merlino said the Victorian Government was proud of its investment, through Ready for Tomorrow: A Blueprint for Regional and Rural Victoria to improve country football and netball club facilities.
