At Monday nights gala J.A. Grogan Medal and Awards Dinner the dominutive Western Magpies icon Reid "Dobbo" Dobson was rewarded for his outstanding 2010 season. He was announced as winner of the Bill Clerke Medal awarded to the QAFL Reserve Grade Best and Fairest.
Dobson who played every game in the Reserves in 2010 polled 20 votes awarded by the umpires just finnishing 1 vote ahead of his closest rival David Tuff from Morningside on 19 votes.
Dobson humbled by his win thanked his coach Pete McClennan for his support and encouragement over the last couple of seasons. Dobson was also very apreciative of the Western Magpies medical staff who sometimes against the odds managed get him out on the paddock week after week.
Dobbo went on to add that he thoroughly enjoyed his role in the Reserves at the club as a mentor for the many young players under his leadership such as Dom Beer, Chris McClennan, Peter Kilroy and Brett McEvoy. It was the perfect extension of his assistant coaching role with the Premiership winning U/18 team.
He went on to express his respect and admiration for the umpiring fraternity that voted for him despite the fact he struggles to kick drop punts - ever!!!
Congratulations Dobbo!!!
